Anyone looking into second citizenship knows the document lists of many programmes: certified police certificates from every country of the last ten years, medical certificates, employer confirmations, reference letters. The Sierra Leone GO-FOR-GOLD programme is much leaner.
No police certificate – but a real background check
You do not have to apply for and submit a police certificate. That does not mean nobody checks: every applicant aged 18 and over goes through independent due diligence. It covers, among other things, identity, international sanctions lists, politically exposed persons (PEP) and criminal records. A specialised provider carries out the check – so you do not have to obtain the evidence from authorities yourself.
No medical examination, no proof of employment
A medical report or health certificate is not required. Nor do you need proof of employment, company documents or reference letters.
Which documents are required?

- Proof of address, e.g. electricity or phone bill or bank statement
- Biometric passport photo
- Your signature (scanned in high resolution)
Depending on the payment agreement, proof of source of funds and a CV may also be requested. Certification and notarisation of documents are free of charge for all programmes; we can arrange certified translations on request.
Why is the paperwork so light?
The process is fully digital: documents are uploaded via an online portal, certification and the oath of allegiance take place via Zoom. Security does not come from as many papers as possible, but from the independent background check and the escrow procedure: the funds are held in a lawyer’s escrow account and are only released once the agreed conditions have been met.
